Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Rehab/Therapy Posting #: 1028155 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary This position provides physical therapy services to a pediatric population, from neonatal through adolescence/young adulthood. Performs evaluation, program planning, and treatment of patients using modalities such as exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, mobilization, heat/cold, taping, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, specific to age and developmental/functional level determined by assessment. Position Duties Evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of diagnoses including neurological, sensorimotor, musculoskeletal disorders/delays, complex medical conditions, and trauma. Demonstrates knowledge of typical development and utilizes pediatric-based behavior management strategies, matching diagnostic/therapeutic interventions to age/ability of the child within a family-centered care framework. Establishes appropriate treatment plans with age‑appropriate, functional, and measurable goals with target timeframes, obtaining mutual agreement with family/guardian. Implements patient’s plan of care using modalities such as exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, mobilization, heat/cold, taping, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound as prescribed by a physician. Provides recommendations for dynamic medical equipment to maximize function. Performs patient/family teaching for maximizing function within the home/community and implementation of home program. Provides care as outlined in the Standards of Care section of the APTA and Phoenix Children’s Policies & Procedures Manual. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation in compliance with Joint Commission, state/federal guidelines, and CARF standards, including participation in Total Quality Management. Organizes, coordinates, and collaborates with other disciplines within the hospital and community resources to maximize value and effectiveness of the plan of care. Participates in discharge planning, care conferences, school re‑entry, patient and family education, and outpatient rounds. Builds and maintains rapport within the department, hospital, and community, professionally interacting with physicians, families, and hospital/community personnel. Prepares and participates in in‑service training programs. Supervises assistive personnel including physical therapist assistants, rehab technicians, and students, providing input into their performance evaluations. Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education Graduation from a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association – Required Experience Pediatric experience – Preferred Special Skills Specialty training in pediatric orthopedics, neuro, NDT, taping, child development, or other relevant pediatric areas – Preferred APTA pediatric specialty certification – Preferred Additional Requirements Current Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy license or a valid physical therapy license with compact license privileges in Arizona before the start date – Required Current Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card before the start date – Required Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association before the start date – Required Physical Requirements Climbing – Frequently Sensing textures and temperatures – Frequently Fine motor skills (pinching, gripping, etc.) – Frequently Hearing – Frequently Pushing/pulling – Constantly Reaching – Constantly Sitting – Frequently Standing – Frequently Stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling – Constantly Talking – Frequently Tasting/smelling – Occasionally Walking – Constantly Near vision – Frequently Far vision – Frequently Color discrimination – Occasionally Use of keyboard, mouse and/or computer equipment – Constantly Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance – Constantly Lift more than 35 pounds without assistance – Constantly Occupational Exposure / Risk Potential Inside office environment – Applicable Airborne communicable diseases – Applicable Bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluid – Applicable Hazardous materials exposure – Applicable Toxic or caustic chemicals – Applicable #J-18808-Ljbffr Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc.
