Veterinary Assistant – Cardiology

$25.00–$31.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential (6:00 PM–6:00 AM)
Part-time opportunity in Concord, California
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 2–3 eight-hour shifts per week

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

• Assist board-certified cardiologists and technicians with patient restraint, handling, and treatment procedures.
• Prepare patients for advanced cardiac diagnostics, including echocardiograms, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, radiographs, and Holter monitor placement.
• Collect laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and other diagnostic specimens.
• Obtain patient histories and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in condition.
• Assist with catheter placement, medication administration, and sample preparation as directed.
• Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment.
• Provide compassionate client communication throughout appointments and procedures.
• Support workflow coordination within the Cardiology department while collaborating with other specialty services.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

What You Bring

• Previous veterinary assistant experience required; specialty or emergency experience preferred.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
• Experience collecting laboratory samples.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary nursing and patient care procedures.
• Familiarity with Holter monitor placement preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to lift and assist in restraining animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient and client care.
