Medical Assistant IPerform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support physicians and keep office operations running smoothly.Classification: Non-ExemptReports To: Practice Manager/ Clinic SupervisorEssential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Collect basic patient intake and vitalsPerform necessary point of care testingDocument all patient visits and communication in EMR properlyPerforms capillary blood draws, newborn screens, dental varnish, and routine hearing and vision screensProperly administer oral medication as directed by the providerHandles refills/ referrals/ authorizationsAnswer back line phone calls as needed as well as accurately chart phone calls and initiate proper follow throughPerform necessary cleaning duties maintaining an orderly work environment and ensure an adequate stock of medical suppliesResponsible for all incoming school/day care forms for the assigned providerEthical conduct, confidentiality, and collaboration with the healthcare team are expected and considered essential elements of this positionRegular & prompt attendance on agreed upon daily and weekly start and end timeCan maintain physical demands and work environment as listed belowEducation & ExperienceRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalentCMA Certification and/ or 6 months Medical Assistant experiencePreferredCPR CertificationKnowledge of EMR softwarePhysical Demands & Work Environment Requirements: This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.Expected Hours of Work: The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.Covid/ Flu Considerations: If requested by any patient, then staff is required to wear a surgical mask. Patients are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if they are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms or have a fever.
