Clinical Laboratory TechnicianThis role supports a clinical research unit by working closely with floor technicians and phlebotomists to collect, organize, and process pharmacokinetic (PK) samples in a small laboratory adjacent to the clinic floor. The clinical laboratory technician focuses on processing blood and urine specimens from healthy subjects participating in overnight Phase I studies, ensuring that all samples are collected and handled according to study protocols and regulatory standards. The position contributes directly to the smooth flow of procedures between the clinic, laboratory, and urine monitoring areas while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized PK processing environment.ResponsibilitiesCollect and harvest plasma, serum, and other required laboratory specimens from study subjects in strict accordance with protocol specifications.Monitor the collection of urine and, when required, fecal specimens from subjects participating in clinical studies to ensure compliance with study procedures.Assist with urine collection from subjects as needed, following established clinical and laboratory guidelines.Collaborate with coordinators and floor technicians (phlebotomists) to support the smooth and orderly flow of procedures across the clinic, laboratory, and urine monitoring areas.Organize, label, and process PK samples in the designated PK processing area, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and timely handling.Complete all required study documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including logs, forms, and electronic records as defined by the protocol.Undergo training and demonstrate competency on special laboratory and clinical equipment as required by specific study protocols.Maintain all procedures and processing areas in a neat, clean, and organized condition, following good laboratory practices and safety guidelines.Follow established quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of collected and processed specimens.Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinical and laboratory operations, which may include limited assistance with on-floor clinic activities when needed.Essential SkillsPrevious laboratory experience comparable to approximately 1 year, providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform specimen collection and processing tasks.Demonstrated proficiency in specimen processing, including handling, labeling, and organizing blood and urine samples.Skill in pipetting and other basic laboratory techniques used in clinical research and PK sample processing.Experience working in a clinical research or laboratory environment with an understanding of protocol-driven procedures.Knowledge of quality control practices in a laboratory setting to ensure accurate and reliable sample handling.Ability to work collaboratively with phlebotomists, coordinators, and other clinical staff to support coordinated study workflows.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing study documents and maintaining sample records.Ability to learn and operate special laboratory equipment and follow study-specific training requirements.High / secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.Additional Skills & QualificationsTechnical positions may require a relevant technical or laboratory certificate.Experience in clinical research units, particularly Phase I settings with healthy volunteer studies, is beneficial.Familiarity with pharmacokinetic (PK) sample collection and processing workflows is an advantage.Comfort working with blood, urine, and fecal specimens in a clinical research environment.Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly PK processing area and manage multiple study tasks.Ability to adapt to changing study needs and perform additional duties as assigned in a fast-paced clinical research setting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Las Vegas, NV.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
