Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association with an associate in arts degree in dental hygiene

Two years' experience in direct dental patient care. Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license to practice dental hygiene issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners is required at the time of appointment. Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment. - Performs preliminary dental examinations of patients and records findings.
- Provides initial review of patient medical records.
- Performs prophylactic and preventive treatments prior to examination of patient by dentist.
- Sets up and closes out clinic rooms in accordance with established regulations.
- Takes radiographs and maintains dental records and charts.
- Provides oral hygiene instruction to patients on an individual basis.
- Assists in presenting oral hygiene instruction before groups.
