Schlesinger's Steakhouse is looking for a skilled, dependable saute cook who takes pride in their craft and understands what it takes to keep a busy kitchen running at a high level. As Newport News' premier chophouse, we're known for quality steaks, fresh seafood, and a serious commitment to great food and hospitality. We're looking for a cook who wants to be part of a professional kitchen team and takes pride in getting the details right.

What You'll Do

• Own your assigned station and keep it prepped, stocked, clean, and service-ready
• Prepare steaks, seafood, and other menu items to established recipes and standards
• Execute dishes with speed, consistency, accuracy, and attention to presentation
• Manage multiple tickets and priorities during busy services
• Maintain proper temperatures, portions, and cooking techniques
• Complete daily prep and stay ahead of the needs of your station
• Communicate clearly with chefs and fellow kitchen team members
• Keep your station organized and sanitary throughout service
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with breakdown, closing, and other kitchen duties as needed
• Step in wherever needed to help the team deliver a smooth service

What We're Looking For

• Previous professional line cook experience required
• Delicate hand with seafood and steak
• Steakhouse, upscale casual, or high-volume restaurant experience preferred
• Strong knife skills and solid knowledge of professional cooking techniques
• Ability to confidently work a station during a busy service
• Strong sense of timing, organization, and urgency
• Ability to follow recipes, tickets, and plating standards consistently
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to work
• Team player with a professional attitude
• Takes pride in quality, cleanliness, and consistency
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
