Description: The Clinical Nurse Manager will coordinate the delivery of resident care. The manager is responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing policies and procedures. As the leader of the team, the Nurse Manager maintains the operational aspects of the assigned unit in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The manager understands the organization’s Mission and Core Values and incorporates them into daily practice. They continually strive to improve the organization’s systems and processes. The manager makes decisions as a member of the team to fulfill the mission and vision. They treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy. The manager supports a clinical practice environment where nursing staff provides exceptional care for the residents. They create and support an environment of staff engagement and involvement to promote a professional practice environment. The manager establishes relationships with residents, their families, and guardians. They demonstrate excellent communication skills and ensure ongoing education for residents and their families. The manager encourages families to partake in the care of the resident. They assure that staff schedules align with resident needs while providing accountability for established standards of care. The manager regularly conducts staff meetings to disseminate information effectively. They participate in creating policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The manager ensures that all team members are knowledgeable in these areas. They maintain standards of care and oversee compliance with care planning processes and facility policies. The manager adheres to infection control standards and safety protocols. They establish and maintain a systematic process for ensuring all nursing staff documentation complies with facility policies and procedures. The manager actively seeks resolutions to situations arising on the unit and completes incident reporting and root cause analysis as required. They work collaboratively with the team to ensure timely and consistent nursing documentation. The manager ensures all documentation is objective, meets regulatory requirements, and aligns with facility policy. They continually assess the resources needed to effectively manage and uphold standards of care on the unit. The manager seeks resources required, including supplies, equipment, maintenance, and environmental services support. They demonstrate knowledge of the progressive disciplinary process for employees. The manager utilizes this process, including coaching and counseling, to provide ongoing feedback regarding staff performance. They demonstrate understanding of policies that monitor and follow up on resident care issues, family complaints, or variations from regulations and facility policies. The manager communicates regularly with the Director of Nursing to ensure problems are resolved and opportunities for improvement are identified. They collaborate with off-shift and other administrative personnel to assure consistency of practice across all shifts. The manager works with Nursing Education to identify staff training needs and provide in-service training that aligns with resident and family needs.
