Senior AccountantChicago, IL | In the office Monday - Thursday, Friday work from homeWe're seeking a Senior Accountant who is ready to take ownership of a portfolio of service centers while partnering with operational and finance leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting and drive continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of month-end close, financial analysis, process improvement, and acquisition integration in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. You'll have direct exposure to leadership, play an important role in strengthening internal controls, and contribute to strategic initiatives that improve the organization's accounting processes.Responsibilities:Own the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of 8-12 service centers.Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and coordination with field locations.Analyze financial results, investigate variances against budget and forecast, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.Serve as the primary accounting liaison between corporate headquarters and your assigned business units.Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.Evaluate internal controls and standard operating procedures while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen financial processes.Partner with the Controller and Accounting Managers on automation, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.Support annual financial statement audits, tax audits, and regulatory compliance activities, serving as a key contact for external auditors.Lead the accounting integration of newly acquired businesses, helping ensure a smooth transition into the organization's financial reporting structure.Participate in special projects that enhance financial controls, audit readiness, and operational effectiveness.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting.2+ years of accounting experience.Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional/mid-sized firm) is highly preferred.CPA preferred or actively pursuing certification.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analyses.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and resolve issues.Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to partner effectively across corporate and field operations.
