Patient Care Assistant (PCA) - Med Surg

Job Type: Full Time | Nights

Schedule: 3 x 12-Hour shifts, weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)

Our Medical Surgical Unit team is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for patients recovering from illness, injury, and surgical procedures. As one of the hospital's core inpatient units, our nurses, patient care staff, providers, and interdisciplinary teams work collaboratively to deliver safe, patient-centered care while supporting positive outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. How you'll contribute

A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) who excels in this role:

• Assists in assuring optimal patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Provides direct patient care
• Completes specific documentation in the patient's medical record
• Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance activities
• Communicates appropriate information intra-departmentally and inter-departmentally
• Assists with staff education and participates in continuing education for personal and professional development
• Applies knowledge of age-related factors when caring for patients, following established policies and procedures

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Additional requirements include:

• SRNA or CNA Required
• Current BLS certification required within 60 days of hire
• PCA/DCA Experience preferred

Required Skills:

• Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills
• Exercises sound judgment and decisive decision-making
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
• Takes appropriate action in urgent or high-pressure situations
