RN - MedSurg/Tele

• About Facility:

o 351 licensed beds


o No Trauma Designation


o Teaching Hospital


o Chest Pain Center


o Stroke Center


• Unit Information:


o Beds: 36


• Census? Average patients/day? ADC = 33 currently


o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year


o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No


• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:


o General Med/Surg & Floor LOC post-operative patients.


o CBI and mirror 7South


o Bariatric; hips; trauma surgical; bucks traction


• Patient Ratios:


o RN: 1:6


o LPN (if applicable): 1:6


o CNA: 1:9-12


• Required Licensure & Certifications:


o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - Resource Team requirements


• Skills required:


o General care of the medical/surgical patient


o CBI and mirror 7 South


• Support within the Department:


o CNA? Duties? Duties as assigned, within the scope of the CNA; General ADLs, vital signs, ambulation/mobility, assistance with feeding, blood sugars and other duties as assigned within the scope of the CNA.


o Receptionist/HUC? 7am-7:30pm, yes- 7pm-0730am, no.


o Charge nurse? Yes


o Phlebotomy? Yes


o IV/VAT Team? No


o Resource Nurse? No


o RT 24/7? Yes


o Hospitalist 24/7? Yes


o Intensivist 24/7? Yes


o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes


• Technology/Equipment:


o EMR: Encompass/EPIC


o IV Pump: Baxter currently - moving to Alaris in 2026


o Med dispensing: Omnicell


o Monitors: Philips MX-40s


o Unit specific equipment: Routine lifting equipment, VS equipment, CBG machines, wound vacs PRN, Baxter IV pumps. Specialty beds PRN.


• Floating: If yes, where?


o Sister units of 7N and 7S - All med-surg with same ratio/expectations.


• Orientation (facility and unit) :


o NEO: Yes- facility


o 2 days departmental: yes, unit.


• Scheduling:


o Weekend rotation: every other


o No call


o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays


o RTO: Resource Team approval


o Shift times: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730


o Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks
