Position Summary:
A Hydrovac Swamper is a crucial, hands-on role supporting the Hydrovac Operator by handling high-pressure water and vacuum hoses to safely excavate around underground utilities. Responsibilities include setting up equipment, directing hose movement, ensuring safety protocols, site cleanup, and performing manual labor like shoveling in various weather conditions.

Essential Function

• Equipment Set-up/Takedown: Assembling and dismantling hoses, nozzles, and grounding/bonding equipment.
• Site Support: Assisting the operator with excavation (daylighting, slot trenching) and guiding the vacuum wand, often while working in tight spaces.
• Safety & Spotting: Monitoring the excavation area for potential hazards and acting as a spotter for the truck operator.
• Job Site Housekeeping: Cleaning tools, hoses, and the work area, including managing debris, soil, and rock removal.
• Maintenance: Performing routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, including cleaning filters and checking for malfunctions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable, dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work location
• Clear verbal communication for coordinating with the operator.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR
• Safety training such as H2S Alive, First Aid, or Confined Space Entry is often required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in adverse weather (extreme heat/cold).

Company Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check to company standards.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $20 -$28 per hour
Overtime: Eligible after 40 hours of work in one week
