Distribution Learning Consultant

Horace Mann is seeking a Distribution Learning Consultant to help transform field education into an integrated, performance-driven learning experience that strengthens agent capabilities, improves sales effectiveness, and supports long-term business growth. In this role, you will help design and evolve a modern Field Learning Ecosystem supporting Life & Retirement lines of business. You will connect learning strategy with field execution by creating engaging learning experiences that span onboarding, ongoing development, performance support, and reinforcement. Working across Marketing, Sales Leadership, Lines of Business, and other key stakeholders, you will help ensure learning solutions are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable results. What You’ll Do Help design and continuously evolve a comprehensive Field Learning Ecosystem aligned with sales and growth objectives. Develop learning strategies and experiences that support onboarding, ongoing development, and field performance. Translate strategic learning objectives into practical, executable learning experiences. Apply adult learning principles, behavior-change practices, and performance-based design to field education initiatives. Create learning journeys that connect skill development with measurable sales and productivity outcomes. Help move learning beyond individual training events toward continuous development and reinforcement. Digital Learning & Innovation Design scalable learning experiences incorporating virtual instructor-led training, cohort-based learning, microlearning, peer collaboration, simulations, and asynchronous digital learning. Leverage just-in-time training, virtual role plays, and other modern approaches to reinforce skill development. Evaluate and implement learning technologies that support personalization, analytics, and scalable delivery. Experiment with and implement AI-enabled learning tools to enhance field development. Help establish effective practices for virtual engagement, knowledge retention, and application of learning in the field. Measurement & Business Impact Establish and track KPIs that connect learning initiatives with sales productivity, adoption, field execution, and business outcomes. Use data to evaluate learning effectiveness across knowledge, behavior, and results. Analyze learning and business performance data to identify opportunities for improvement. Continuously refine learning experiences based on results, field feedback, and emerging best practices. Support improvements in key measures such asnew agent validation rates and sales productivity. Partnership & Influence Partner across Marketing, Sales Leadership, Lines of Business, and other stakeholders to align learning priorities with business needs. Build strong relationships within a matrixed organization and influence outcomes without direct authority. Provide insight into capability gaps, field readiness, and opportunities to improve performance. Support change efforts that build a culture of continuous learning and performance accountability. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications 5+ years of progressive experience in learning strategy, sales, performance consulting, or a related discipline. Experience designing and delivering remote and digital learning programs. Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into executable learning experiences. Strong facilitation skills in virtual environments. Experience or demonstrated comfort experimenting with and implementing AI-enabled learning tools. Experience successfully working within a matrixed organization. Focus on Life and Retirement, with applicable life and required securities licensure (Series 6, 63, and 26). Depending on the line of business supported, Property & Casualty and/ Health licensure may also be required,or candidates must be willing to obtain all required licensure within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience within insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated sales environment. Experience supporting distributed or captive sales organizations. Budget ownership and vendor management experience. Innovative and technology-forward mindset. High-energy and engaging presence. Key Performance Indicators Success in this role will include measurable impact in areas such as: Sales productivity improvement Learning adoption and engagement Knowledge and skill application Field execution effectiveness Compensation The anticipated salary range for this position is $76,600 – $106,450 with anticipated starting salary of $85,000, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a 10% annual incentive opportunity, subject to the terms and conditions of Horace Mann’s applicable incentive plan.
