RN ICU

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU provides expert nursing care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role involves comprehensive patient assessments, development and implementation of individualized care plans, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The RN is responsible for stroke care competencies, emergency response, and maintaining professional nursing standards, requiring strong clinical judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work varied shifts including weekends and on-call duties. Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and analyze data to determine nursing diagnoses.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for ICU patients.
• Provide skilled nursing interventions and promote a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate closely with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Maintain competence in stroke care, including completing required stroke education and adhering to related protocols.
• Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to peer education.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Respond promptly to urgent and emergency situations within the ICU setting.
• Document nursing care and patient progress accurately and timely.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, standing, walking, and fine motor activities as required by patient care.

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Montana.
• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in critical care or ICU settings.
• Competence and willingness to practice modified primary nursing.
• Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Pediatric nursing experience.
• Experience with stroke patient care and cerebrovascular disease management.
• Advanced knowledge of ICU protocols and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Must comply with hospital policies and complete all required education per regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Ability to work under stress in a busy ICU environment.
• May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
• On-call availability may be required to meet organizational and patient needs.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, walking, bending, and fine motor tasks.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations.

• Full-time 0.9 FTE position with variable shifts.
• Shift assignments may include day, evening, night, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Regular and sustained attendance is required, with flexibility for extended hours and on-call duties.
