Psychiatrist – Pueblo University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO Position Details Type: Full‑time Salary: $302,938 – $302,940 per year Category: Physicians • Military Job Summary The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) is a 516‑bed acute care psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient behavioral health services for adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients. CMHHIP is a forensic hospital serving individuals with pending criminal charges who require evaluations of competency, restoration treatment for those found incompetent, and treatment for those found not guilty by reason of insanity. The hospital is located on a 300‑acre campus in southern Colorado. This full‑time position (1.0 FTE) requires in‑person presence in Pueblo, CO, and is not located on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Key Responsibilities This position provides needed treatment to patients. Examples of Work Performed Work with integrated care teams that include mental and physical health professionals—physicians, psychologists, nurses, and social workers—to provide a seamless continuum of care. Collaborate with team members and evaluate their diagnosis and treatment protocols upon request to ensure the best in patient care. Provide consultation to integrated care team members to help diagnose, assess, and treat complex behavioral health conditions in an inpatient facility. Provide input in the creation of individual patient treatment plans that incorporate multiple treatment methodologies and adjust as needed for enhanced patient response. Diagnose mental health conditions based on patient health history, discussions with the patient, and information provided by relatives and other health professionals. Assess patients and prescribe pharmaceutical interventions, as appropriate, on an ongoing basis for the treatment of behavioral, emotional, or mental disorders. Recommend diagnostic and laboratory tests to learn additional information about patients’ physical and/or mental health and monitor their improvement over time. Discuss treatment protocols and diagnoses with patient caregivers and advise as appropriate. Work Location Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and in person at the CMHHIP in Pueblo, CO.
