Description

American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer with 2+ years of experience in general diagnostic sonography for a community acute care hospital.

Details

General diagnostic ultrasound studies in an acute care hospital setting

No full vascular studies except when performed with general studies, including focused lower extremity studies to rule out DVT in the Vascular Lab

No full breast/mammography scans, though axilla or breast scans may be performed on ED patients

NICU head and first trimester OB competency required

Performs procedures including thoracentesis, paracentesis, kidney and liver biopsies

Familiarity with Trophon High Level Disinfection preferred

Uses PACS and Philips ultrasound equipment

Charts in Epic

Evening shift, 5x8 hours, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Rotating weekend on-call/standby required from 3:00 PM Saturday to 7:00 AM Sunday and 3:00 PM Sunday to 7:00 AM Monday

No floating between units required

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of ultrasound technologist experience required

BLS and ARDMS certification required (RDMS in AB, OB, or B)

RDMS-BR certification preferred

Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred

Epic charting experience required

Prior travel experience required

Skills in OB/GYN (1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester), fetal anatomical survey, and general abdominal ultrasound (aorta, appendix, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen)

Experience with renal/pelvic imaging including bladder, ovaries, prostate, uterus, and vaginal ultrasound

Experience with small parts imaging including breast, thyroid, testicles/scrotum, and superficial masses preferred

Experience performing paracentesis, thoracentesis, and ultrasound-guided biopsy/fine needle aspiration

Pediatric ultrasound experience preferred

License required if applicable

Valid compact state license must be in hand at time of submission

Full SSN and DOB required for submission

Two supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required

Response required regarding any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff

Additional Information

Position based at a beachside acute care hospital with 266 staffed beds

First-time travelers not accepted

Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a lower bill rate

Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities as needed

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application and are subject to client approval

Scrubs provided for OR, L&D, and Cath Lab staff
