What You Will Do as a Staff Tax Accountant

• Prepare a wide range of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, and individual returns, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
• Conduct tax planning and research to identify opportunities for tax savings and minimize tax liabilities for our clients.
• Collaborate with clients to gather necessary tax-related information, address inquiries, and provide exceptional client service.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and incorporate any relevant updates into tax strategies.
• Assist in the resolution of tax-related issues and inquiries from tax authorities on behalf of our clients.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of tax processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior team members.
• Participate in SMG ABA team-building and other firm events/efforts

Qualifications and Attributes You Will Need

• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably in a public accounting firm.
• Intermediate knowledge of tax rules and regulations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license is a plus.
• Proficient in tax software and accounting systems, with a good understanding of technology tools used in tax preparation and research.
• Great analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios and provide innovative solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
• Client-focused mindset, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and further developing & maintaining long-term client relationships.
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tax deliverables.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
