Senior HVAC Field Supervisor – Commercial HVAC

Provides facility maintenance, repair, and compliance services with a strong focus on healthcare environments, including hospitals, medical facilities, surgical centers, laboratories, and other commercial facilities.

We are seeking an experienced  Senior HVAC Field Supervisor to provide hands-on field leadership for our commercial HVAC operations. This position is ideal for an experienced HVAC professional who can lead technicians in the field while also evaluating jobs, preparing quotes, developing material lists, estimating labor requirements, and coordinating work from initial assessment through completion.

Job Overview

The  Senior HVAC Field Supervisor will oversee commercial HVAC service, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance activities across assigned locations. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong technical HVAC knowledge, field supervision experience, and the ability to accurately scope and quote HVAC work.

The successful candidate must be comfortable inspecting job sites, diagnosing HVAC issues, determining appropriate repair or replacement solutions, preparing material takeoffs, estimating labor requirements, and developing accurate information for customer quotes and proposals.

Experience working within  hospitals, medical facilities, surgical centers, laboratories, or other critical environments is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and provide technical direction to HVAC technicians and field personnel.
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting, service, repair, installation, and start-up of commercial HVAC systems as needed.
• Conduct job site assessments and determine the appropriate scope of work for HVAC repairs, replacements, and installations.
• Prepare accurate job estimates and quotes , including anticipated labor hours, equipment, materials, and other project requirements.
• Develop detailed  material lists and material takeoffs for service and installation projects.
• Review equipment specifications, pricing, availability, and material requirements before work begins.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding HVAC equipment and material needs.
• Review technician findings and determine recommended repair or replacement solutions.
• Assist management with pricing, proposals, change orders, and additional work identified in the field.
• Assign and coordinate daily work for HVAC technicians based on project priorities and customer needs.
• Monitor field productivity, workmanship, safety, and quality standards.
• Ensure projects are completed according to scope, schedule, and customer expectations.
• Diagnose complex commercial HVAC and refrigeration issues using electrical schematics, blueprints, piping diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
• Service and troubleshoot refrigeration systems, electrical components, controls, DDC systems, motors, compressors, pumps, and associated HVAC equipment.
• Perform and oversee preventative maintenance, equipment replacements, system modifications, and new installations.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment conditions, recommended repairs, project status, and technical concerns.
• Ensure technicians accurately document completed work, materials used, equipment information, and additional recommendations.
• Verify completed work meets company standards before project closeout.
• Provide technical training, coaching, and support to HVAC technicians.
• Maintain knowledge of manufacturer requirements, new equipment, HVAC technology, and industry standards.
• Ensure field teams comply with company safety policies and customer-specific requirements.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime, evenings, or weekends when operationally necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong commercial HVAC technical background with previous leadership or supervisory experience.
• Ability to lead technicians while remaining hands-on in the field.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC service, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance.
• Experience preparing HVAC quotes, estimates, scopes of work, and material takeoffs.
• Ability to accurately determine labor, equipment, and material requirements for HVAC projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, parts, materials, and associated costs.
• Experience troubleshooting complex HVAC/R, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, customers, vendors, and management.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple active jobs.
• Experience working in healthcare or other critical commercial environments is highly preferred.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience ; 7+ years preferred for this senior-level position.
• Previous HVAC lead, foreman, field supervisor, or service supervisor experience preferred.
• Experience with  HVAC estimating, quoting, material takeoffs, and job costing strongly preferred.
• HVAC trade school certification, Associate's degree, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification required.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• DDC/BAS experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and mechanical plans.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and materials.
• Must successfully complete required pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

Compensation: DOE

Schedule

• Full-time
• Monday through Friday
• Day shift
• Overtime as needed
• Nights/weekends as operationally required
• On-call responsibilities as assigned

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
