Med/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

This position is for a Med/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) working night shifts. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, with a focus on a diverse patient population including those with COPD exacerbations, CHF, amputation care, wound care, and long-term antibiotic therapy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a daily average of 4 to 5 patients, with an emphasis on maintaining patient stability and monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and nursing protocols.
• Coordinate care with case managers and social services to ensure comprehensive patient support.
• Utilize telemetry monitoring systems to assess patient health status and respond to any changes promptly.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement therapeutic interventions for patients.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Meditech Expanse system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.
• Previous experience in a Critical Access Hospital is required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association are mandatory; PALS certification is preferred.
• Ability to float to the emergency department (ED) as a task nurse, if required.
• Reliable transportation is essential, as local transportation services like Uber or Lyft are not available.

Shift and Orientation

This position involves 12-hour shifts from 6:30pm to 7:00am. Orientation is conducted every Wednesday and includes three days of classroom instruction followed by a shift with a preceptor.

Work Environment

Work will take place on a 25 private-bed unit, which includes 23 medical surgical beds and 2 Medical Decision Unit beds. The unit houses a range of patients, including those in need of short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

Scrubs are required to be navy blue for this role.
