Summary

The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in‑services regarding patient care and other respiratory‑related issues to the facility.

Qualifications

• Education: A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA‑approved school for respiratory care.
• Licenses / Certification: Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment; Valid CPR certification; Vent certified, preferred.
• Experience: One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long‑term care setting.

Job Functions

• Provide respiratory‑related services within scope, including testing for clinical needs, gathering information, and submitting to facility.
• Record all pertinent information in respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Assist facility with regulatory issues, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored appropriately and documentation is maintained.
• Takes care of routine mail, phone calls, pages, filing, and faxing.
• Communicate with facility staff regarding clinical and operational issues.
• Assess patients’ respiratory needs, oxygen saturation, pulse ox, ventilator patients.
• Complete treatment and ventilator checks on time; notify supervisor of concerns.
• Complete TARs at month‑end, ensuring accuracy.
• Assess for decannulation and weaning.
• May participate in special projects.
• Resolve routine problems and communicate solutions.
