Physician - Urgent Care

Location: Martinez VA Medical Center, 150 Muir Rd, Martinez, CA 94553 (Community-Based Outpatient Clinic)

Position Overview

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday; approximately 36 clinical hours per week, with flexibility within the urgent care framework.

Setting: On-site urgent care at the Martinez VA CBOC, focusing on acute, non-life-threatening conditions (after-hours emergencies will be directed to 911).

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat Veterans with minor injuries, acute illnesses, and non-critical health issues.
• Order diagnostic tests (including labs and imaging), conduct point-of-care procedures, manage medications, and initiate referrals as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless continuity of care and follow-up.
• Comply with clinical protocols, documentation standards, and guidelines centered on veteran care.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree: MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Must possess a full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Training: Completion of a residency in Emergency, Family, or Internal Medicine, with substantial experience in urgent care or emergency settings preferred.
• Board Status: Board-certified or board-eligible.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required (exceptions may apply if qualified candidates are unavailable).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $260,000 - $325,000 annually.
• Leave: 50-55 days per year (including 26 annual leave days, 13 sick days, 11 federal holidays, and CME days).
• Retirement: Federal pension (vesting in 5 years) plus a Thrift Savings Plan with matching contributions.
• Insurance: Comprehensive federal health, dental, vision, term life, and long-term care insurance.
• CME Stipend: $1,000 annually for full-time, board-certified providers.
• Malpractice Protection: Liability coverage and tail coverage provided by the organization.
• EDRP: Up to $200,000 in educational debt repayment over 1-5 years (eligibility required within 4 months of hire).
• Incentives: Recruitment/sign-on bonuses and relocation assistance available.
