Position Summary: The Crane Rigger is responsible for safely preparing, attaching, and guiding loads for lifting and moving using cranes and hoisting equipment. This role ensures all rigging activities are performed in compliance with safety standards, load requirements, and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and select appropriate rigging equipment (slings, chains, shackles, hooks, etc.) based on load size, weight, and configuration
• Attach loads to cranes using proper rigging techniques to ensure stability and safety
• Signal or direct crane operators during lifts using standardized hand signals, flags or radio communication
• Calculate load weights and determine center of gravity to ensure safe lifting practices
• Inspect rigging gear before and after use; remove defective equipment from service
• Ensure all lifts comply with site safety regulations and OSHA standards
• Assist in planning and executing complex or critical lifts
• Maintain clear communication with crane operators, supervisors, and yard crew
• Keep work areas clean and free of hazards

Qualifications

• Prior experience in rigging Highly preferred
• Prior experience in construction, warehousing, or industrial environments preferred
• Knowledge of rigging equipment and load securement techniques
• Ability to read load charts and understand lift plans
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy materials (50+ lbs)
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions
• Prolonged standing, bending, and climbing

Work Environment

• Outside Industrial Yard and/or Warehouse environments
• Exposure to heavy equipment, moving machinery, and outdoor conditions
