POSITION SUMMARY The Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the ophthalmology practice, ensuring high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Manager is the clinical knowledge‑based counterpart to the Practice Manager. This position collaborates with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative leadership to implement best practices, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient experience. The Clinical Manager is also responsible for local practice training, staff development, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates a clear understanding of financial and performance statements (e.g., income statements, P&L’s, payroll reports, practice management dashboards). Strong knowledge and understanding of organization’s position and opportunities for improvement and/growth. The ability to confront difficult situations and proactively develop practical action plans. Maintains relationships with external business associates, including vendors, insurance carriers, and referring providers. Proactive approach to staffing including succession planning and gap analysis to ensure operations run smoothly and with no interruption to patient care. Leads and manages the clinical and front desk teams, ensuring adherence to company policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements. Oversees daily clinical operations, optimizing patient flow and efficiency in coordination with providers and administrative staff. Ability to influence and gain support from teammates outside of the direct reporting relationship, including doctors. Maintains confidentiality of patient, staff, and company information. Maintains knowledge of and follows policies, procedure, Code of Conduct, and all Federal and state rules and regulations related to the position. Outstanding organization and leadership skills, including the ability to manage, motivate, and mentor. Demonstrated Advanced Knowledge of Patient intake and workup, following standardized protocol. Determining visual acuity. Anticipating and performing needed testing. Ex: automated refractions, visual fields, OCT’s, etc. Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician. Awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow. Obtaining and documenting patient history. Preoperative preparation of patients. Maintain relationships with external business associates, including vendors, insurance carriers, and referring physicians. Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR. Facilitating patient experience by assisting physicians in overall patient care. Working within the confines of the team by assisting other departments with answers to questions, patient triage, etc. Counsel and educate the patients as needed. Regularly update daily provider schedules by assessing no‑shows and add‑ins, while maintaining optimized schedule utilization. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field; RN license preferred. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong knowledge of clinical operations, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations. Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
