An industry leader in X-ray inspection, radiation and trace detection, metal detection, and optical inspection solutions, Rapiscan has over 100,000 scanning systems installed around the world to assist customs agencies, border security, aviation authorities, law enforcement, military organizations, and security professionals in combatting terrorism, smuggling, and trade fraud.The Manufacturing Systems Engineer III is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. With strong empathy and emotional intelligence, they understand team dynamics, foster positive relationships, handle feedback constructively, and support others' success.Finally, they possess excellent communication skills, explaining complex concepts in clear, simple terms and confidently presenting ideas while collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain manufacturing systems to support production goals and quality standards.Lead projects focused on process improvement, automation, and system integration.Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.Collaborate with engineering, design, quality, operations, and IT teams to ensure manufacturability, system compatibility, and compliance.Support implementation and integration of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP systems.Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all manufacturing processes.Prepare and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials for system operations.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.Apply expertise in production workflows, assembly processes, and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.Optimize manufacturing operations for efficiency and scalability.Create and maintain detailed technical work instructions within a controlled process environment.Perform requirements analysis, system architecture design, and integration across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and support lifecycle management.Configure and troubleshoot networking for connected systems, including IP addressing, subnetting, and basic network diagnostics.Execute scripts for system configuration and deployment in production environments.Install and configure software packages on deployment systems, ensuring compatibility across hardware and software platforms.Administer Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line tools and system basics.Troubleshoot installation issues and maintain system reliability.Work with PLCs and industrial control systems to support automation and process control.Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company's Code of Ethics and Conduct.Report any quality problems or defects promptly to management for corrective action.Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.GoalsEnsure seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and quality standards.Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes for efficiency and scalability.Maintain robust technical documentation and controlled processes to support compliance and operational excellence.Deliver integrated systems that meet functional requirements and operate reliably across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.Achieve high standards of system performance through effective configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.Support innovation and adaptability by leveraging expertise in networking, software, and industrial control systems.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.5+ years in manufacturing systems engineering or related role.Strong knowledge of MES, ERP systems, and automation technologies.Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Pay may range $110,000 to $125,000 annuallyThe pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
