Linux System Administrator – SAP-Aware Infrastructure Support

The Linux System Administrator will support and maintain critical enterprise infrastructure and application environments within a large multi-cloud enterprise ecosystem. This role focuses on advanced Linux system administration and SAP Basis–aware platform support, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across production and non-production landscapes. The consultant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including SAP Basis, Network, Cloud Infrastructure, and Application Support—to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to modernization initiatives aligned to enterprise IT standards.

Key Responsibilities / Focus Areas

• Linux Administration & Operations
  • Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux systems (Red Hat, SUSE, or equivalent).
  • Perform daily system health checks, log reviews, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain integrity, availability, and security of hardware, storage, and network configurations.
• SAP-Aware Platform Support
  • Provide system-level support for SAP Basis and HANA DB environments.
  • Coordinate with SAP Basis teams for patching, upgrades, and system performance optimization.
  • Monitor KPIs and storage capacity for SAP application servers.
• Automation & Maintenance
  • Manage backups, restores, patching, and job scheduling across multiple environments.
  • Contribute to automation and configuration management using shell, Python, or Ansible scripting.
  • Document standard operating procedures and configuration baselines.
• Incident Response & Service Assurance
  • Analyze and resolve technical issues during business hours and on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and application teams for root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Support compliance and system validation activities aligned to ITSM and audit standards.
• Continuous Improvement & Modernization
  • Stay current on new technologies and provide recommendations for platform enhancements.
  • Support initiatives related to infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and hybrid workloads.

Required Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of professional experience in Linux system administration / engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu).
• Hands-on experience with application server administration, monitoring tools, and system performance tuning.
• Experience managing backups, patching, and system integrity verification.
• Familiarity with SAP Basis and/or HANA DB administration concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, cloud infrastructure environments, and enterprise service management workflows.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Certification in Advanced Linux Administration or Engineering (e.g., RHCE, SCA, or equivalent).
• SAP Basis or HANA DB certification or hands-on experience supporting SAP landscapes.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Knowledge of automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform, or scripting).
• Experience in large enterprise or managed service environments supporting mission-critical systems.
