Radiology Technician Position
Unit: Radiology
Types of Staff: Rad Techs (with and without CT experience), U/S Techs, Mammography Techs
Certifications: BLS & ARRT, State of CA certification for Rad Techs, ARDMS for U/S Techs, State of CA certification for Mammography Techs
Workload: Patients are scheduled one per hour to accommodate inpatients and ER patients
EMR: Cerner
Radiology Management Team: Coordinator, Manager, Supervisor
# of Staff Scheduled per 24 hours: Typically 15 Radiology techs
Schedules: 8-hour shifts expected
Weekend Requirement/Call: Proficient CT candidates may be scheduled at 7a or 3p; general Rad Techs at 11a; U/S Techs work half a shift on Saturday morning, standby/call possible with radiologist approval
Holidays: Covered by call
Scrub Color: Hospital provides scrubs
Radiologist: On-site or on call depending on work
Floor specific orientation: U/S Tech: 1 week; Rad tech without CT experience: 1 day with portables and 1 day in the OR; Rad tech with CT experience: case by case; Mammo Tech: experience and training based
Types of Equipment: CT uses Siemens equipment (64 slice & 128 slice); U/S uses Phillips equipment
Common diagnosis/Types of patients: All typical hospital patients (ER, OR, inpatient & outpatient)
Additional Notes: Basic Rad techs with Fluro permit for OR and routine work preferred; CT and Mammography certification through the State of CA a plus; Venipuncture experience a plus; OR experience desirable; Tomography training for Mammography Tech preferred
