Overview The Process Engineer is a key contributor to the Process Engineering team at thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components. The role involves working independently and cross-functionally on projects for the development, design, installation, debug, startup and optimization of automated manufacturing equipment. The position aims to evaluate existing processes, configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process. The team is engaged in implementing highly automated, global technology. Area of Focus The Process Engineer (PCE) has progressive levels: PCE I, PCE II, PCE III, and PCE Team Lead. Levels include progressive expectations. These expectations provide a general framework for tiered positions and are not all-encompassing. Meeting these expectations and the educational/experiential requirements is necessary for consideration but does not guarantee the position. PCE II Ability to independently execute projects with minimal instruction, including SAP, design, procurement, and related activities. Point of counsel for PCE I. Full understanding and compliance with PCE processes and procedures. Proven full execution of significant projects with compliance to PCE processes and procedures. Proven ability to execute projects independently in multiple manufacturing disciplines. Considered a process expert in one or more manufacturing disciplines with the ability to support MFE in depth. Proven self-motivation to support MFE/OPS beyond PCE bounds. Qualifications The Process Engineer has progressive levels (I, II, III) linked to experience and demonstrated ability. A supervisory track to Team Lead may be available. To perform this job successfully, the candidate should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulation; write reports, business correspondence, and procedures; effectively speak in public and present information to internal and external groups. Ability to speak German is preferred. Technology: Microsoft Office, PTC Creo, AutoDesk AutoCAD Travel: Occasional travel up to 5%, including international, required. Education/Experience: PCE I/II with approximately 4 years of PCE engineering experience. Key Deliverables Perform responsibilities of a Process Owner: plan, implement, measure process effectiveness and efficiency, and continually improve the process flow. Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process; improve process capability and production volume while maintaining quality standards. Communicate regularly within the department and company about information that impacts the business, department, or group. Project engineering/management of new projects, including creating and maintaining project logs, design reviews, progress control, and acceptance with multiple suppliers and internal departments. Source, quote, evaluate, and select suppliers; install and verify pre/final acceptance protocols for new projects/products/equipment. Track and control project budgets to stay within the approved budget. Remove roadblocks in the implementation of new programs and systems in coordination with Manufacturing Departments. Collaborate with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective production process. Define and create machine specifications and measuring definitions for defined or new processes. Review supplier offers and support negotiations with the purchasing department. Plan and organize equipment media connections, infrastructure requirements, tooling, and manpower needs. Conduct process tests, gage R&R, Cp/Cpk studies, and machine runoff tests to verify scrap, cycle time, downtime, failure modes, and conformance to specifications. Establish and maintain project schedules to meet customer milestones and supplier timing. Create machine and process layouts and concepts. Provide support and guidance to departments and coordinate cross-functional support; lead or participate in regular project team meetings. Evaluate and improve processes in manufacturing systems; maintain awareness of the evolving economic environment and propose changes as needed. Support decision-making by providing information, reports, analyses, and financial direction related to process and technology improvements. Contribute to a high-performing, data-driven culture that employs lean techniques to drive continuous improvement.
