Material HandlerBowhead is seeking a reliable and motivated Material Handler to support the Engineering and Prototype Shop at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.Bowhead offers:SCA Material Handler pay at $17.76 per hour, plus $5.09 per hour for H&W (Health and Welfare)A total of 33 paid days off per yearPaid vacation accrued up to 15 days a yearPaid sick leave accrued up to 7 days a yearPaid holidays 11 per yearUp to $175 for safety boots every two yearsUp to $5250 for college tuition per yearUp to $5250 for training per yearPrescription safety glasses are provided yearly401K matched up to 3%ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with manufactured materials in a fast-paced shop environment.Job duties include but are not limited to:Receiving and unloading materials from delivery trucksOrganizing and staging raw materials in designated areasCutting materials to specified lengths using a band saw, as directedSafely operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move materials throughout the shopUsing standard measuring tools, including dial calipers and tape measures, to verify dimensionsMaintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsMust have a valid driver's licenseMust have a high school diplomaMust have at least one (1) year of experience with material handling operationsPrior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting is preferredBasic level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, and OutlookExperience in reading and interpreting blueprintsCapable of using standard measuring tools such as dial calipers and tape measuresAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and management, and respond to instructions/assignmentsMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishStrong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a teamMust be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, and be able to twist, bend, and squat periodicallySECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. U.S. citizenship is a requirement for a Secret clearance at this location.
