Drafter/CAD Operator I

The Shore and Expeditionary Integration Program Office (PMW 790) acquires support services in production systems engineering, logistics, installation management, and integration/planning/requirements services for multiple shore and expeditionary C4I programs. PMW 790’s mission is to acquire, integrate, deliver, and support interoperable shore‑based C4I capabilities for the warfighter. Job Overview The Drafter/CAD Operator II reports to the Program Manager and designs installation drawings using computer‑aided drafting software for the PMW 790 Shore and Expeditionary Integration Program Office Planning and Logistics Support Services contract. The position is located in Charleston, SC. Responsibilities Support Systems Engineers and Senior AutoCAD specialists in creating Installation Requirements Drawings (IRD), Installation Design Plans (IDP), and As‑Built drawings. Review IRDs, IDPs, and As‑Built drawings for compliance with applicable standards (SIPH and IRD). Conduct IDP and IRD reviews to ensure hardware installations are documented in detail and provide necessary guidance for successful installation. Conduct surveys of shore sites to support drawing development efforts. Provide guidance to other IRD and IDP developers and reviewers in formal and informal settings, and compile/distribute installation lessons learned related to shore engineering drawing packages. Manage data calls to provide requested information, including research, gathering, sorting, and presentation. Provide bid and proposal support if requested. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications An active secret clearance. High school diploma. One or more years of experience creating AutoCAD drawings such as network interconnectivity diagrams, floor plans, elevations, building plans, landscapes, maps, electrical, electronic and mechanical details. Experience updating existing AutoCAD drawings (“red lines”) to current state. Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas visually. Basic math skills for scaling and formula computation. Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical documents. Ability to perform job duties under deadlines/scheduling commitments. Basic computer literacy and data entry skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem‑solving skills. Strong time‑management skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing, and challenging environment. Ability to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time, and to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking. Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds. 10% travel required. Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of SPAWAR Shore Installation Handbook version 4.1. Experience with the Installation Database (SPIDER and IMO Tracker). Familiarity with SPAWAR 4.2 Formatting Checklist version 4.1. Knowledge of FRCB standards and processes. Military training and background in advanced electronics fields. Familiarity with networking diagrams, concepts, and components. INDUS is an equal‑opportunity employer.
