Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Construction Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and project team in the planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of construction projects. This role serves as a critical link between field operations, design consultants, contractors, and owners—ensuring that project documentation, schedules, budgets, and quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to grow into a Project Manager role.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & AdministrationAssist in managing daily project activities, ensuring alignment with contract documents, schedules, and budgetsSupport the preparation and tracking of project schedules, work plans, and milestone deliverablesCoordinate with subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and internal stakeholdersDocument Control & Technical ReviewManage and track submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and change requestsReview construction documents for constructability, completeness, and coordination issuesMaintain accurate and up-to-date project records, logs, and reportsCost & Change ManagementAssist in evaluating change orders, pricing proposals, and budget impactsTrack project costs, commitments, and contingency usageSupport monthly pay application reviews and progress verificationField & Site SupportParticipate in site visits, inspections, and progress meetingsAssist with issue resolution related to field conditions, design clarifications, and schedule impactsSupport quality control and safety compliance effortsCommunication & ReportingPrepare meeting agendas, minutes, and action item logsDevelop weekly and monthly project status reportsFacilitate clear communication between field teams, management, and clientsQualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required)Experience1–5 years of experience in construction project support, engineering, or coordinationExposure to commercial, institutional, K-12, healthcare, municipal, or multi-family construction preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in construction technology platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and MS Office SuiteAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractsCore CompetenciesStrong organizational and time-management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesAnalytical mindset with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience working on publicly funded or bond-funded projects (e.g., K-12, higher education, municipal)Familiarity with change order management, pay applications, and procurement processesOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationCareer Development OpportunityThis role is designed as a growth position with a defined pathway toward Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer, based on performance, leadership, and project complexity.Work EnvironmentCombination of office and active construction site environmentsOccasional travel to project sites as requiredEqual Opportunity StatementJohnson Construction Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace.
