Assignment Type: Open Contract – 6–8 months with potential for extension

Pay: $30–$34/hour (based on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday; 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Hybrid schedule with work from home Monday and Friday and onsite Tuesday–Thursday.

About The Company:

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company specializing in industrial automation and technology. They have a busy supply chain operation and are looking for a Buyer Planner I to support purchasing, inventory, and supplier activities.

Job Description:

The Buyer will support purchasing and inventory management by monitoring material needs, creating purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and maintaining accurate ERP information. This role will help ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and supporting production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review inventory levels, production requirements, forecasts, and ERP system information to determine purchasing needs.
• Create and manage purchase orders and requisitions for assigned materials.
• Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, quantities, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Follow up with suppliers and help expedite materials when necessary.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information in the ERP system.
• Monitor inventory levels and help prevent material shortages or excess inventory.
• Review and update supplier lead times, item information, and safety stock levels.
• Request and evaluate vendor quotes and assist with supplier setup.
• Work with internal teams including Materials, Receiving, Engineering, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Logistics to resolve purchasing and material issues.
• Assist with returned, rejected, or scrap materials.
• Prepare purchasing reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation.
• Help identify and resolve basic material planning and scheduling issues.

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of purchasing or buying experience.
• Manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Comfortable communicating with vendors and internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Experience working with an ERP system; SAP/S4HANA experience is a plus.
• Ability to analyze information and make purchasing decisions based on inventory and production needs.
