Temporary Event Assistant

Show Me Center Part-Time, Variable Shifts

Position Available/Potential Start date: 8/21/26

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and coordination of Show Me Center events
• Support the Director of Events with administrative tasks
• Provide communication and customer service at a consistently excellent level to event coordinators
• Management of event materials and equipment
• Help with event layouts and drawings
• Assist the Marketing Director with developing event marketing materials
• Promote events across internal and external platforms
• Communication with vendors, sponsors and community partners
• On-site support during events, including addressing guest issues as they arise
• Recruitment, training and supervision of temp and student employees
• Operate technical equipment such as video, sound and lights
• Oversee meeting room events
• Maintain documentation for each event
• Attend community outreach events to promote upcoming Show Me Center events

Required Qualifications

• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule; including weekends, evenings and early mornings
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
• Knowledge of and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people
• Strong organizational skills, time management and high attention to detail
• Strong understanding of event marketing
• Leadership and team management skills
• Knowledge of video, audio and lighting equipment use
