Machinist

Description


The Machinist is responsible for fabricating precision components within a research and development manufacturing environment. This role works directly alongside engineers to transform designs into finished hardware across a wide variety of materials and machining processes.

The position requires a highly skilled machinist capable of operating independently, maintaining high workmanship standards, and adapting to a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting advanced aerospace products.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

• 3+ years of machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
• Proficiency operating CNC and manual machining equipment including mills and lathes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, notes, and tolerances
• CNC lathe, mill, and programming experience
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Requirements

• Set up and operate multi-axis CNC mills, lathes, EDMs, and manual machining equipment
• Write and optimize CAM programs for new parts and manufacturing processes
• Machine parts from engineering drawings, CAD models, and verbal instructions
• Manufacture complex tight-tolerance components across multiple material types
• Inspect finished parts using precision hand measuring tools
• Design and fabricate tooling and fixtures as required
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve manufacturability
• Communicate production issues and drawing concerns proactively
• Support continuous process improvement initiatives
• Cross-train in additional shop operations as needed

• Experience with Nakamura lathes
• Experience with Hermle 5-Axis mills
• Mastercam programming experience
