Mechanical Engineer II

What You Will Do Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements. Develop mechanical designs from initial concept to formal technical data package generation (engineering drawings, models) and culminating in initial builds, testing, transition to production, and production support. Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (e.g., structural/thermal analyses and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced, team environment. Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions. Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required; international and longer duration travel assignments may be available but optional. Qualifications Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. Experience in the selection of materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations including corrosion mitigation and prevention. Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal), assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts). Experience with CAD modeling and engineering documentation practices. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Preference for experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems. Specific knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints. Experience with Military and Commercial Specifications. Experience with PTC CREO and PDM. Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program‑level tasking. Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a cross‑functional team. Strong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non‑technical and management audiences.
