Data Migration & Business Data Analyst

Job Title: Data Migration & Business Data Analyst
Location: San Francisco, CA (Preferred) / Rocklin, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid Monday to Thursday in-office, Friday work from home
Duration: 6+ months
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand product structures, categories, and organizational hierarchies.
- Facilitate discussions between business users and technical teams to define data mapping and migration requirements.
- Review migrated data and identify inconsistencies, classification issues, hierarchy conflicts, and data quality problems.
- Apply data science and AI/ML techniques to identify data patterns, anomalies, classification issues, and opportunities to improve migration accuracy.
- Validate migrated data to ensure accuracy and alignment with business requirements.
- Work with data migration teams and external partners to resolve data mapping and classification issues.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to data structures, hierarchies, and taxonomies.
- Translate technical findings into business-friendly language and communicate risks, impacts, and recommendations.
- Support data cleansing initiatives and contribute to improving data governance processes.
- Collaborate with business leaders to define data validation criteria and acceptance standards.
- Track data quality issues, document resolutions, and ensure timely resolution of identified gaps.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), or a related field.
- Experience supporting data migration, data transformation, data cleansing, or system implementation projects.
- Hands-on experience applying data science and AI/ML techniques in business data, data migration, data quality, classification, or analytics.
- Experience in either e-commerce data and processes or Master Data Management (MDM) is required.
- Strong understanding of data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and data quality processes.
- Experience working with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather and translate business requirements.
- Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with retail, merchandising, product catalog, or inventory data.
- Experience with ERP, PIM, PLM, RMS, or enterprise data transformation projects.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Retail Merchandising Systems (RMS), including RMS data flows into MDM.
- Knowledge of data governance principles, hierarchy management, and product taxonomies.
- Experience working with offshore development or implementation teams.
- Basic SQL or data querying experience.
