Data Platform Lead

MMP Capital is seeking a Data Platform Lead to help build the company’s enterprise data platform from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to create the data foundation, architecture, reporting layer, and analytics capabilities needed to support MMP’s next phase of growth across equipment finance, working capital, servicing, credit, operations, accounting, and capital markets.This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in data engineering, data platforms, business intelligence, and analytics, with hands-on technical capabilities in SQL, Python, data pipelines, and modern data environments such as Databricks or similar platforms. The Data Platform Lead will help create reliable data infrastructure, improve reporting accuracy, support reconciliation and operational controls, and build the foundation for future automation, machine learning, scorecards, and generative AI capabilities.This is a hands-on leadership role with full alignment from senior management to build something scalable and impactful from the ground up. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, partnering directly with business leaders, translating messy operational data into trusted information, and helping move the company toward a more data-driven and AI-enabled operating model.Key ResponsibilitiesData Platform, Architecture, and Integration• Design, build, and manage MMP’s enterprise data platform, including data warehouse / data lake architecture, data models, pipelines, and reporting layer.• Develop scalable data pipelines across key systems, including Salesforce, lease / loan management systems, servicing platforms, accounting systems, banking data, document/OCR tools, and third-party data sources.• Create a reliable source of truth for originations, portfolio performance, funding, collections, payments, cash application, lender reporting, and management reporting.• Support the integration of data from Lease / Loan Management Systems, including platforms such as InfoLease, LTi Aspire, IFS LeaseWorks, Abrigo, or similar servicing / portfolio management systems.• Partner with Technology and external vendors on API integrations, data feeds, system enhancements, automation, and data quality controls.Reporting, Analytics, and Business Intelligence• Build and maintain executive dashboards, operating reports, portfolio analytics, scorecards, KPI reporting, and business performance reporting.• Support reporting needs across Finance, Operations, Credit, Sales, Servicing, Collections, Capital Markets, and leadership.• Develop reporting packages that improve visibility into originations, approvals, funding, syndication, booked assets, delinquencies, defaults, recoveries, portfolio performance, and trends.• Create tools and reporting to support lender / investor reporting, borrowing base analysis, reconciliation, covenant monitoring, and operational decision-making.• Translate business questions into clear reports, dashboards, analysis, and data-driven recommendations.Data Governance, Quality, and Controls• Establish data governance standards, data definitions, reconciliation controls, and reporting validation processes.• Create and document standard definitions for key metrics, including originations, booked volume, net book value, receivables, past due balances, charge-offs, recoveries, revenue, exposure, and cashmetrics.• Identify and resolve data quality issues across systems, including duplicate records, missing fields, inconsistent naming conventions, incomplete integrations, and mismatched reporting outputs.• Partner with Finance and Operations to strengthen reconciliation processes across bank activity, servicing data, general ledger, Salesforce, and portfolio systems.• Develop exception reporting and monitoring to identify breaks, stale data, failed integrations, missing files, and reporting inconsistencies.Operational and Strategic Support• Support MMP’s technology transformation by helping move the business toward a more data-centric operating model.• Partner with stakeholders to document business requirements, define reporting needs, and convert operational pain points into scalable data solutions.• Support the development of scorecards, underwriting analytics, bank statement analytics, portfolio monitoring, and future AI-enabled workflows.• Work with cross-functional teams to improve process visibility, automate manual reporting, reduce spreadsheet dependency, and improve management controls.• Train users on dashboards, reports, data tools, and reporting best practices.Machine Learning, AI and Advanced Analytics• Support the development of MMP’s machine learning and generative AI capabilities by building clean, reliable, and well-governed datasets that can support future model development, automation, anddecisioning.• Partner with Technology, Finance, Credit, Operations, and business leaders to identify high-value use cases for predictive analytics, scorecards, workflow automation, portfolio monitoring, and AI-enabledreporting.• Help design and maintain data pipelines, feature-ready datasets, and analytics workflows using SQL, Python, Databricks or similar modern data platforms.• Support the development of future AI-enabled workflows across underwriting, bank statement analysis, servicing, collections, portfolio monitoring, reconciliation, and management reporting.• Ensure AI, machine learning, and automation initiatives are supported by strong data governance, documentation, validation, controls, and business oversight.Required Experience and Skills• Strong experience building or managing data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, reporting environments, or business intelligence solutions.• Experience working with Lease / Loan Management Systems, servicing platforms, or portfolio management systems is strongly preferred. Experience with InfoLease, IFS LeaseWorks, LTi Aspire, Abrigo,Salesforce, Business Central, Quickbooks or similar platforms is a plus.• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Python, reporting automation, and data quality controls.• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Domo, Salesforce Analytics, or similar analytics platforms.• Strong Excel skills and ability to bridge business reporting needs while reducing manual spreadsheet dependency over time.• Ability to work with APIs, flat files, data feeds, exports, and third-party vendor integrations.• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.• Ability to work directly with business users, executives, technology teams, vendors, and operational teams.• High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.• Experience with Databricks or similar modern data platforms is strongly preferred.• Experience building data pipelines, data models, reporting layers, and analytics workflows that can support business intelligence, automation, machine learning, or AI use cases.• Familiarity with machine learning workflows, feature engineering, model-ready datasets, or generative AI use cases is a plus.• Ability to help scale MMP’s long-term data, analytics, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities from the ground up.Preferred Industry Experience• Equipment finance, commercial lending, specialty finance, working capital, MCA, leasing, banking, fintech, or financial services experience preferred.• Experience supporting credit, servicing, collections, finance, accounting, treasury, capital markets, or lender reporting functions preferred.• Experience building reporting around portfolio performance, receivables, cash application, delinquency, charge-offs, recoveries, funding, or borrowing base reporting is a plus.Education• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.• Equivalent practical experience in data engineering, analytics, financial systems, or business intelligence will also be considered.Systems and Tools• SQL, Python, and relational databases• Power BI, DOMO, Tableau, Salesforce Analytics, or similar BI tools• Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite• Salesforce or similar CRM systems• Lease / Loan Management Systems such as LTi Aspire, IFS LeaseWorks, Abrigo, InfoLease or similar systems• Databricks or similar modern data platforms• Data integration, API, ETL/ELT, or automation tools• SharePoint, OneDrive, or other document / collaboration toolsWork ArrangementThis is a full-time, in-office role based out of MMP Capital’s Melville, NY office.Job Conditions• This position supports a high-volume, fast-moving business environment and may require flexibility around reporting deadlines, system implementations, month-end close, and priority initiatives.• The role requires close collaboration with multiple departments and frequent interaction with stakeholders across the organization.• The position requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.• MMP Capital operates under a team-based environment, and the employee may be asked to support related tasks within the scope and ability of the position.Benefits• 401(k)• Dental insurance• Health insurance• Health savings account• Life insurance• Paid time off• Vision insurance• Other company-sponsored benefits as applicableSchedule• Monday to FridaySupplemental Pay• Discretionary bonus eligibility, subject to company policy and performance

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a scalable and reliable enterprise data platform to support various business functions
• Develop and optimize data pipelines, workflows, and ETL processes using SQL, Python, and modern data tools such as Databricks
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs, translate operational data into trusted insights, and improve reporting accuracy
• Implement data governance, reconciliation, and operational controls to ensure data quality and compliance
• Lead efforts to enable advanced analytics, machine learning models, scorecards, and AI capabilities within the data platform
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
• Partner with senior management to align data initiatives with strategic business objectives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, or business intelligence roles
• Hands-on expertise in SQL, Python, and building data pipelines
• Experience with modern data environments such as Databricks, Spark, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and operational controls
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Proven track record of delivering complex data projects on time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, equipment finance, or related industries
• Knowledge of machine learning, AI, and automation technologies
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• Advanced degree in a relevant field
