Behavioral Programming Specialist - Central Regional Hospital

Behavioral Programming Specialist (S) Agency: Dept. of Health and Human Services, Division: Central Regional Hospital, Location: Butner, NC. Responsibilities Conduct direct and indirect behavioral assessment and intervention services under the clinical supervision of a licensed psychologist or licensed psychological associate. Teach behavioral intervention strategies and train staff. Perform assigned tasks across organizational units of the hospital. Serve as a role model for staff and patients, consistently demonstrating positive behavioral supports. Implement behavioral treatment plans—including individual and group contingency plans—developed by psychologists. Communicate effectively about and teach elements of behavior intervention plans to staff as needed. Collect and summarize behavioral data in accordance with behavioral intervention plans and institutional policies. Interact effectively with patients and staff, including direct care staff, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and physicians. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, child development, social work, education, nursing, or a closely related field with coursework in behavior modification, and six months of experience in a developmental center or developmental disability setting.• OR Associate’s degree in human services or closely related area with two years of experience providing assessment, goal writing, behavioral data collection, and implementation of behavior modification programs.• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications • Considerable knowledge of behavioral principles, mental illness, severe behavior problems, human development across the lifespan, and cultural/ethnic diversity.• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local provisions, regulations, and standards regarding behavior programming services.• Skill in observing and recording behavior, antecedents, consequences, and related environmental factors.• Ability to implement and train staff in behavioral treatment programs.• Ability to maintain a professional and respectful working relationship with patients, hospital staff, and the public. Salary Range $32,287.00 – $56,502.00 Benefits Qualified employees are eligible for the North Carolina State benefits package, including health insurance options, standard and supplemental retirement plans, and the NCFlex program. Employees also receive paid vacation, sick leave, community service leave, and paid parental leave for eligible employees. Conditional Requirements ADA physical requirements include visual attention, mental concentration, and manipulative skills necessary for assessment, treatment, and documentation. The position is designated as mandatory, requiring the employee to report or stay over during adverse weather events.
