Phlebotomist (Certified): FT days

General Summary and Scope Responsible for clerical functions, computer functions, patient phlebotomy duties, and other specimen collection procedures. Retention Bonus $2,500 - $5,000 (based on experience). Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities Greets patients and correctly enters physician orders into the laboratory computer system, obtaining any necessary information from the outpatients. Performs patient registration duties as required. Performs proper patient identification during all specimen collections. Answers phones, completes requests, and relays messages. Maintains current knowledge of all computer applications necessary to carry out job duties. Provides clear and complete communication and documentation to co‑workers, patients, and clients using all tools available. Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High school graduate or equivalent. Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certificate preferred. Previous phlebotomy experience preferred. Currently certified in CPR/BLS and recertified bi‑annually. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain a positive impression of the Medical Center at all times. Able to handle sensitive telephone and face‑to‑face inquiries. Computer skills required. Mobile ability. Ability to read and write small letters and numbers. Punctual attendance at assigned work location required. Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and insurable under Firelands’ auto policy. Must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request. Effective oral and written communication with management, co‑workers, patients, visitors, and general public. Work in a safe and efficient manner, maintain an accident‑free workplace, and demonstrate working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes. Compliance with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission‑based precaution recommendations, use of proper personal protective equipment, compliance with applicable S.D.S. forms.
