Project Manager Cybersecurity Initiatives (Hybrid, Albany, NY)




About the Role
Join New York State's Information Technology Services (ITS) as a seasoned Project Manager leading mission-critical cybersecurity initiatives. This hybrid position in Albany empowers you to drive complex technology projects, including the distribution of hardware authentication tokens for multi-factor authentication (MFA) grants to local governments. You will collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders, making a direct impact on the security of state and local government systems.




Responsibilities




- Report directly to the ITS Chief Information Office program manager to deliver on strategic objectives.
- Lead multiple project teams, organize and prioritize work, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, and standard artifacts for large-scale cybersecurity projects.
- Identify, document, and mitigate project risks while adapting to shifting priorities.
- Utilize MS Project and collaboration tools (Teams, WebEx) to track progress and communicate effectively.
- Facilitate meetings, provide executive-level status reports, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including NYS agencies, vendors, and local governments.
- Oversee procurement management, deliverable tracking, and support the NYS Cyber Risk Remediation Program.
- Act as the primary ITS contact for local government entities during MFA grant implementation.
- Manage contract signatures, token inventory, and provide timely progress and inventory reports.




Required Skills and Experience




- Bachelor's in Math, Sciences, Engineering, or technical field preferred.
- Minimum 8 years' experience managing complex IT projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in technology project management, including cross-team coordination.
- Proficient in project scheduling, documentation, and risk management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and executive audiences.




Preferred Skills




- PMP certification, particularly with New York State projects.
- Cybersecurity experience or knowledge.
