Perioperative Nurse

Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety, education, and efficient workflow within the operating room setting. Acts as a crucial member of the surgical team by assessing patient needs and supporting optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients preoperatively to identify clinical and psychosocial needs.
• Prepare the operating room by arranging supplies, ensuring sterile environment, and verifying equipment functionality.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, including nerve blocks and emergency interventions.
• Monitor patient vital signs and responses throughout the surgical process, maintaining airway and pain control.
• Document all clinical activities accurately in electronic medical records, including patient assessments, procedures, and post-op instructions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure safe patient transfer to Phase 2 recovery and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Possess an active and valid RN license.
• Demonstrate prior experience in surgical or operating room nursing.
• Show proficiency with diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, and EKG.
• Exhibit skill in IV therapy and medication administration.
• Maintain knowledge of anesthesia supplies, nerve blocks, and emergency equipment like crash carts.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities.
