Water Treatment Process Engineer

We are seeking a Water Treatment Process Engineer to support the design, optimisation and delivery of reliable water and wastewater treatment solutions. The role will involve developing process concepts, preparing design calculations and technical specifications, and contributing to projects from initial feasibility through detailed design, commissioning and operational support. You will work across a range of treatment technologies, which may include filtration, clarification, membrane systems, biological treatment, disinfection, sludge processing and chemical dosing.


Key responsibilities will include assessing process performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and producing process flow diagrams, mass balances, equipment schedules and control philosophies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, contractors and operational stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet performance, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements. The role may also involve reviewing technical documentation, supporting procurement and equipment selection, assisting with risk assessments, and attending site visits, testing activities and commissioning works. You will be expected to investigate operational issues, interpret water quality data and recommend practical, cost-effective improvements.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in chemical, environmental, civil or process engineering, together with relevant experience in water or wastewater treatment. A sound understanding of treatment processes, process modelling, hydraulic principles, equipment specification and applicable industry standards is essential. Experience with design software, data analysis tools, control systems or commissioning would be advantageous. You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities while contributing effectively to collaborative project teams.
