Hotel Chief Engineer

Overview Are you an experienced chief engineer seeking your next journey at a busy property? The Aloft Scottsdale is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead and manage the property's maintenance operations. Responsibilities Supervise the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs. Monitor life safety systems and utilities; administer the department in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state, and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests, and associates. Oversee preventive maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, FF&E, grounds, and pool in line with Crescent and brand standards. Interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, resolve problems, and manage disciplinary actions as appropriate. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other hotel equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance assignments. Respond courteously to guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure high guest satisfaction. Communicate with hotel department heads to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests. Service the hotel pool, adjust chemicals, clean filters, and maintain maintenance request logs. Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal (snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening). Maintain franchise standards and follow up on inspection deficiencies. Coordinate compliance of service contracts. Implement and maintain Crescent’s preventive maintenance program and room care programs. Maintain Crescent’s engineering department minimum standards. Assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development. Participate in Crescent’s Safety Plan and energy improvement initiatives. Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to provide direction to staff. Adhere to attendance rules and be available to work regularly. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition; professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to communicate well with guests and team members; willing to pitch in and help co-workers. Identify potential safety hazards and security issues; take appropriate action. Proficiency in areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems. Responsive to guest and maintenance-related complaints.
