Mechanical Assembly Technician

Mechanical AssemblerThe Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished equipment in accordance with drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements. This role supports fabrication and production operations by performing hands-on assembly work while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.Responsibilities:Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and equipment according to drawings and work instructionsRead and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and bills of materialsUse hand tools, power tools, and basic measurement equipment accuratelyPerform fit-up, alignment, fastening, and adjustment of mechanical partsConduct visual and functional checks to ensure quality standards are metIdentify defects, missing parts, or non-conformances and report issues promptlyFollow OSHA safety requirements and shop safety proceduresMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient work areaAssist with material handling, kitting, and staging for production jobsSupport continuous improvement and cross-training effortsDocument work performed, as requiredRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturingAbility to read and follow mechanical drawings and instructionsMechanical aptitude and attention to detailBasic math skills and ability to use measuring toolsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred Qualifications:Experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environmentFamiliarity with torque requirements and fastener specificationsExperience working with electrical panels, enclosures, or equipment assembliesExperience supporting quality inspections or production documentationPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:Ability to work in an industrial fabrication environmentAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbsRepetitive use of hands and toolsExposure to noise, tools, equipment, and shop conditionsRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Additional Skills:Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to deal with conflicts and stressful situations.Ability to work on multiple assignments and projects.Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint.Benefits:All eligible employees enjoy an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/vision insurance, short/long-term disability, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off including holidays, and tuition reimbursement.EEO Statement:MSTI is an equal-opportunity employer.
