Department Information THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS). PAYING $19.00-$20.00 PER HOUR. EMPLOYMENT STARTS 04/09/2026 THROUGH 12/05/2026. Responsibilities Lead Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at the CBT’s (Grand Lake, Granby Reservoir and Shadow Mountain Reservoir) near Grand Lake, Colorado. Provide on‑job training to inspection staff. Create schedules and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours. Collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll and recommend hiring/firing. Ensure inspection station staff follow standardized protocols through monthly quality control assessments. Ensure accurate data entry, inventory management of required supplies, basic maintenance and troubleshooting of power washer/decontamination unit. Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Early morning, evening, and weekend work required. General Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector Staff the park ANS inspection station and conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews. Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distribute brochures, promote ANS education, educate about State Park regulations). Perform cleaning and light maintenance of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas, including maintenance of facilities and grounds. Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software. Training in boat inspection and decontamination procedures provided. Conduct physical boat inspections, decontaminations and boater interviews. Document and report visitor complaints as necessary. Other duties as assigned. May be required to work at the ANS station for an 8‑hour shift and take lunch at the station. Qualifications High school diploma. Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings and late evenings. Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment preferred. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service experience working with the public desired. Reliable and timely. Ability to self‑motivate and work independently.
