Florida St,Greensboro, NC, 27401,United States Base Pay $31,518.00 - $43,642.00 / Year Employee Type Full Time Exempt POSITION SUMMARY The NC PreK Lead Teacher is responsible for carrying out all duties in accordance with NC Division of Child Development and Early Education Child Care Licensing Standards as well as NC Pre-K Program Requirements by providing a quality environment in which each child's growth and development is assured. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To develop and execute an on-going program of activities that contribute to the care, growth and development of children. To supervise and evaluate co-teachers and volunteers. To maintain a physical environment which conforms to defined program standards. Organize classroom space into functional areas that are recognizable by children and adults. To observe physical conditions of children and make referrals of suspected child abuse to Site Coordinator and report incident appropriately. Work jointly with the NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant to develop and deliver daily lesson plans that align with curriculum goals and address the individual needs of children. Utilize a variety of instructional formats, including individual, small-group, and large-group activities, while ensuring all documentation and reports are accurate and submitted on time. To provide constant supervision of all enrolled children and maintain appropriate classroom management techniques. To ensure that needed supplies and equipment are available, and that all resources (including volunteers, community resources, and field trips) are used appropriately for classroom enrichment. To attend all required meetings and training events in order to strengthen skills and upgrade professional growth. To maintain a professional relationship with guardians/parents and staff while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No direct supervision of staff, however, provides performance feedback to the direct supervisor of assistant teacher as needed. Requirements All teachers shall hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina (NC) Birth through Kindergarten (B-K) Initial or Continuing License or a NC Professional Educator’s Initial or Continuing License with a B-K or Preschool Add-on License issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Teachers working toward the required education and license shall meet one of the following requirements: (1) a NC B-K Initial License; (2) a NC Lateral Entry B-K License; (3) a NC Residency B-K License; (4) a NC Emergency B-K License as determined by the Early Educator Support (EES) Unit; (5) a NC Professional Educator's License with a Provisional B-K or Preschool Add-On; (6) another state's license; or (7) a BA/BS degree and be eligible for a NC Residency B-K License. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to communicate effectively with both children and their guardians/parents across all socio-economic segments of the community. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must successfully complete all requirements for the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) Background Check and obtain a valid Workforce Identification (WFID) number. Certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens is required upon hire and must be maintained in current status throughout the duration of employment.
