Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Long Term Care/Transitional Care settings provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the healthcare team to ensure quality care. The CNA will float between units, primarily working in TCU, and is expected to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Perform range of motion exercises and provide skin care.
• Collect patient data such as vital signs, weights, and specimens; report any changes in patient condition.
• Support nursing staff with patient care procedures like incentive spirometry, suctioning, and blood sugar testing.
• Prepare rooms, assist with admissions and discharges, and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
• Perform clerical duties including answering unit phones, data entry, and coordinating supplies and equipment.
• Float between Long Term Care and Transitional Care units as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in Skilled Long Term Care or Transitional Care.
• Reliable transportation for travel between units.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with electronic charting systems such as Net Solutions.
• Ability to float and adapt to multiple care units.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Special Considerations:

• Every other weekend work required.
• No on-call duties.
• Floating between units expected, typically spending 3 shifts per 24 hours in Transitional Care Unit.
• Must have reliable personal transportation.
• Business casual attire required.
• Facility may call off traveler up to one shift per pay period.

Scheduling:

• 8-hour day shifts.
• Block scheduling accommodations available.
• Weekend shifts every other weekend.
