Description

Position Summary:

Operates commercial vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and products to and from designated locations in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. Prepares, receives, and maintains required shipping and delivery documentation to ensure accurate and compliant transportation of goods.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Safely operate commercial vehicles in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload cargo using proper material handling and load securement techniques.
• Prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery and pickup of goods to ensure timely and accurate service.
• Maintain communication with dispatch regarding delivery schedules, route changes, delays, or pickup instructions.
• Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and other required records in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and basic preventative maintenance of assigned vehicles.
• Must be eligible to operate company vehicles under RK's motor vehicle insurance policy.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
• Handle, move, organize, and stage materials.
• Grind and clean parts as needed.
• Accurately record time worked and complete required documentation.
• Participate in training on equipment, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Assist other employees and departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A required.
• Receives direct supervision.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and applicable state transportation regulations.
• Ability to safely operate commercial trucks and related equipment.
• Understanding of proper cargo securement and safe material handling practices.
• Ability to read, interpret, and complete shipping, receiving, and transportation documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.
• Skilled specialist.

Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability:  

• Work often involves extended periods of standing, walking, and performing repetitive or physically demanding tasks.  
• Effective verbal communication and hearing are essential for maintaining safety, receiving instructions, and coordinating with team members in person, over radios, or through alarms. 
• Both fine motor skills (e.g., handling small components, precision work) and gross motor skills (e.g., operating tools and heavy equipment) are critical. 
• Visual acuity is required for reading blueprints, measuring materials, performing precision work, and maintaining situational awareness; near, far, and peripheral vision may all be needed. 

• Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, as well as dusty, loud, hot, cold, or potentially hazardous areas. 
• Tasks may involve bending, stooping, reaching overhead or below shoulder height, crouching, kneeling, climbing ladders or ramps, and maintaining balance on uneven surfaces. 
• Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, or in other challenging physical locations as required by the task. 
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs independently.  

• Must comply with all company policies and procedures. 
• Consistent, punctual attendance during core business hours is essential. 
• Reliable transportation is required for commuting and occasional travel between local corporate offices and job sites during business hours. 
• All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
