ATE Associate Software Engineer

Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.Position Overview We are seeking an ATE Associate Software Engineer to support AST SpaceMobile’s mission of building the first space‑based cellular broadband network. This role develops, tests, and maintains software that powers automated test equipment and engineering systems across our Midland operations.Key Responsibilities:Analyze user, engineering, and system requirements to design software solutions aligned with AST’s testing and operational needsDevelop, test, and implement software modules that integrate into larger ATE systemsRecommend enhancements and upgrades to existing software, tools, and processesBuild and maintain diagrams, flowcharts, and documentation to support development and scalabilityEnsure software functionality and reliability through testing, debugging, and validationCollaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to support system integration and troubleshooting Maintain detailed documentation for all software components to support maintenance and future improvementsAddress bugs, performance issues, and user feedback throughout the software lifecycleQualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical fieldExperience:Minimum of 1 year of experience in software development, test engineering, or a related technical disciplinePreferred Qualifications:Experience developing software for automated test equipment (ATE) or hardware‑integrated systemsFamiliarity with aerospace, telecommunications, or high‑reliability engineering environments Knowledge of version control systems such as Git Understanding of Agile development methodologiesExperience with both front‑end and back‑end application developmentSoft Skills:Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and test teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholdersMeticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in code, documentation, and test results Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilitiesEffective problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quicklyTechnology Stack:Programming languages such as Python, C#, Ruby, or similarExperience with front‑end and back‑end application developmentFamiliarity with software testing frameworks and automation toolsAbility to create diagrams and models using tools such as Visio or LucidchartPhysical Requirements:Ability to work in a standard office environmentAbility to use a computer for extended periodsAbility to collaborate in lab or engineering spaces as neededAdditional Requirements:Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident (Green Card holder), or possess valid U.S. work authorizationThis job description may not be inclusive of all duties and responsibilities.
