Lead Mechanical Engineer (P.E.)

Edison Smart is actively looking to hire an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our client's Chicago team. This is a key role leading mechanical engineering projects from concept through construction.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing and building mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role combines hands-on engineering, project leadership, client engagement, and team mentoring responsibilities

Key Responsibiliti

• esLead the design and coordination of mechanical building systems for a variety of project type
• s.Manage mechanical engineering project deliverables from schematic design through construction administratio
• n.Perform engineering calculations, load analysis, equipment selection, and technical evaluation
• s.Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and construction document
• s.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineer
• s.Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure integration of mechanical systems within overall building desig
• n.Support client meetings, project planning, and technical presentations as require
• d.Conduct quality reviews to ensure designs comply with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable code

• ed.Previous experience working for an AEC or MEP Consultancy preferr
• ed.Strong experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and institutional buildin
• gs.Proficiency or working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design softwa
• re.Thorough knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Mechanical Code (IMC), and applicable building cod
