About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 2 years License: MO or compact Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical care experience, EKG exam passed, no visible tattoos, facial piercings removed or covered Description: All adult IR procedures including body, vascular, and neuro. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 4x10 hours. Call during weeknights may occur 3 or 4 times during the contract. Weekend call may occur 1 or 2 weekends during the contract. Nurses may be expected to stay past the end of their scheduled shift if procedures are incomplete. Backup work may be designated once a week. Agency nurses may be required to work every 5th or 6th Saturday as needed. Average daily census is 8 patients per day per nurse. Nurses may work past 6 PM if performing a procedure. Role includes titrating drips and assisting with central lines. Experience with CT guided procedures and bone biopsies is required. Monitoring of patients using Philips monitors is essential. Critical care experience in ICU or ED is required. First-time travelers are welcome. EKG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are required. Independent work is expected. Nurses will assist with pre-procedure phone calls and provide pre and post-procedure care. Procedural sedation is commonly performed using Fentanyl and Versed. Inpatient and outpatient populations are served. The unit is involved in a wide range of interventional procedures including hemodialysis access and interventional oncology. Nurses will be involved in sedation administration and patient monitoring. Travelers must comply with all required documentation and deadlines. Compliance deadlines and requirements are strict. Travelers must have facial hair that allows for proper testing or may be required to shave. Overall, this is a high-level trauma center with a comprehensive stroke program.
