Physical Therapy Aide Per Diem

Job Summary Assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists as needed for daily patient care. Maintains a clean and organized work area; disinfects equipment and maintains daily/weekly cleaning logs and temperature logs; performs clerical duties as needed. Job Code: VC24500 / VC24509. Reports to: Physical & Sports Medicine Manager. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Bargaining Unit: n/a. Essential Functions Assist with caring out individually designed treatment programs developed by a licensed therapist. Monitors the patient’s pain response and advises supervising therapist of any changes for possible reassessment. Assists patients in use of appropriate assistive devices and DME per therapist instruction. Safely transports patients and assists in patient transfers and bed positioning as a second assist. Uses critical thinking to determine how to safely hand off patients to the next therapist. Maintains a clean and organized workplace, proper inventory levels, disinfects equipment and work areas, maintains daily/weekly cleaning logs, does temperature checks. Maintains proper linen supply and changes linen bags when 2/3 full. Performs clerical duties as needed including monitoring inventory, supply ordering, messages, charges, and general needs. Participates in department and organizational quality improvement and patient satisfaction performance improvement programs. Works toward department finance success factors by minimizing waste, keeping department supplies and equipment in working condition and following department timekeeping policies. Maintains productivity standards for direct patient care. Performs all duties in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE Standards of the Hospital. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School graduate. Previous Physical Therapy Aide experience preferred. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification. Good physical health and ability to perform lifting and patient support. Good oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational, time‑management and proactive mindset. Self‑motivated with problem‑solving abilities. Knowledge of safe practices including body mechanics, use of equipment and lift coach, and personal protective equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays).
